Aftermath of a surgery
Today at approximately 8:45 a.m., Evie went in for surgery at University of Wisconsin Hosptial. She got out of surgery at approximately 10 a.m. According to her doctor, things went well.
The doctor warned us that there will be a lot of swelling in her future -- so much so that one eye or perhaps both will swell shut. That will occur in the next 24-72 hours and then hopefully come down within the next 10 days.
She's currently wearing a little white bandage on her head that looks like a flapper's hat from the 1920's and she's very, very groggy. She has eaten a little bit and is also crying a lot -- probably from pain, hunger, fear and lack of sleep. We're currently situated at the children's hosptial and things are looking alright. She might need a blood transfusion, but hopefully that will go well.
I'm going to be camping out with her at the hosptial to breastfeed and hopefully will be able to get away with little updates.
